METAD – a farm shaping the future of Ethiopian coffee This coffee is produced by METAD, a third-generation family business known for its transparency, ethical values, and commitment to environmental and social responsibility at every stage of production. METAD operates Africa’s first private, state-of-the-art SCAA-certified quality control laboratory, which trains both international and local coffee professionals. A significant portion of METAD’s profits supports the surrounding communities. The company sponsors over 650 primary school students, giving them access to high-quality education and long-term opportunities. The entire farm and its production methods carry organic certification. During the 2013/14 harvest, METAD produced exclusively natural-processed coffees. In the 2014/15 season, eco-friendly processing equipment allowed the farm to introduce its first washed coffees. This coffee reflects METAD’s unique combination of heritage, innovation, and community engagement — offering a vibrant cup filled with florals, citrus brightness, and refined sweetness.
